One of my favourite quilts is my ‘Divided Blooms’ quilt. I needed to make another sample quilt because I am teaching this quilt in various shops around Melbourne.
I chose florals from Art Gallery fabrics, aren’t they just beautiful?
I always, always use the fabric swatch table in the pattern to decide which fabrics I will use for each flower.
Naturally my cat decided to sit right in the middle of the finished pieces!
When I have made all of the flowers according to the fabric swatch table, I bag them up into the 16 layout blocks.
Lay out one block at a time.
When all of the blocks have been made, it is time to join them with the sashing. For this quilt I used different background fabrics and sashed using a mixture of the different backgrounds and joined with a cornerstone block.
Then it was time to load it onto the longarm and start quilting.
I love a pieced back and usually make one for all of my quilts.
This pattern is available in my shop as downloadable pattern and paper pattern. You can purchase the acrylic templates for this pattern also.
