Blossoming Lonestar. Seriously wish I could find the time to finish this one. I am going to extend the blocks with Alison glass abacus fabric.........hopefully soon! lol! Finally I have decided on a back ground for my lonestar. Originally I was going to piece the background with a mix of Alison Glass abacus fabric but I have not got the time at the moment and I really want it … [Read more...]
RJR Fabrics what shade are you blog hop!
I have been lucky enough to have some lovely cotton supreme solids from RJR Fabrics to play with. I am planning a really special quilt but I can't reveal what its is until its featured in the blog hop. But I might have to do a few sneaky peeks along the way. This is my colour palette, look familiar, lots of bright beautiful colours. I used a lot of small amounts of … [Read more...]
Log Cabin Quilt
I have started to make a queen size log cabin quilt, 80 x 11 inch blocks., finished block size is 10 1/2 inches. I absolutely love it, I am using a mix of Alison Glass's ranges and her range of low volume fabrics, abacus. Here are some photos of my progress so far...... I decided to use the traditional centre red fabric for every block. The strips are 2 inches wide. … [Read more...]
Sarahs Vintage Sheets Quilt
Sarah has made the sweetest quilt from vintage sheets fabric. I sent Sarah a design on the clear board, I decided to go with very pretty quilting that merged into the design, no harsh borders. When Quilting this one I tried quilt something different in each panel picture that was relevant to the piece. Steam for the teapot, wind for the balloon and fur for the cat … [Read more...]
Marets Applique Baby Quilt
Maret Appliqued a sweet little baby quilt. The background was a white on white hearts fabric so I decided to continue that theme and do hearts in the squares. I went around the elephants in a monofilament thread and around the elephant ears so they weren't over quilted. In the border I quilted some curly feathers and filled in the yellow borders with a loopy border. … [Read more...]
Di’s Paradise in Blooms
This is what is currently on the longarm, a very beautiful Quiltworx Paradise in Blooms Quilt. Lots of thread changes with this one! Double lines for the border guided by the best invention ever 'masking tape'. Because I don't like to draw on the quilts I use masking tape as my guide. Adding some feathers around the appliqué. Pretty happy with this so far. I … [Read more...]
Blossom Batiks Petals
I received some beautiful fat quarters from RJR Fabrics called Blossom Batiks. I decided to make them into petals..... and then iron them onto the quilt top with some visa flex. I have done a quick sketch of the quilting I would like to do, now its just a matter of squeezing it in between client quilts! … [Read more...]
Suzannahs Meadow Quilt
Today I am loading Suzannah's Meadow Quilt. She purchased the batik fabrics when she went to Bali so we have decided to go with a Bali inspired quilting design. These batiks are beautiful, decided to go with an orange peel in the centre blocks, which was a common theme in the bali wood sculptures and fabric. The fabric and aurifil thread are just shimmering in the sunlight, the … [Read more...]
Majestic Mosaic
This beautiful quilt was pieced by Margaret she is 82 years old and this is the second quilt I have quilted for her. The first was the Judy Niemeyer Paradise in Blooms which is also on the website. She won a viewers choice for that quilt at her guild showcase, so that was pretty exciting. I am going to quilt this quilt with aurifil monofilament and stitch in the ditch to give the quilt … [Read more...]

Flowered Wreath
This is such an easy process and yet gives such a great looking effect. Choose your favourite fabrics. Draw nice easy petals and leaves onto the visa flex, leaving enough room to cut around them. Iron the visa flex on to the wrong side of the fabric, feel free to fussy cut. Now cut out your lovely petals and leaves. You can arrange them … [Read more...]
Tula ‘Ring of Flowers’ Quilt
I first got the idea for this quilting design when I saw my daughters henna designs on her hand and wrist. I very quickly, one afternoon, made the quilt top choosing Tula Pinks fabric because I thought it gave the same look as the one I was trying to create with this quilting pattern. I made the petals and circles and ironed them to the fabric with visa flex. I chose to sew them to the … [Read more...]
