*********** Seed Burst quilt Pattern is available in my ‘Shop’ ***********
When I was asked by RJR Fabrics to give my ‘Seed burst’ quilt an autumn/fall flavour it was easy. I picked out eleven fabrics from there beautiful Malam batik range and chose a yellow batik for the quilt top.
For the quilt back I decided to use a fabric from the Mirage range, the colours were the perfect compliment to the batiks I chose for the seeds.
In the pattern I suggest it is a good idea to lay out all of the seeds prior to sewing down.
This will assist you in making sure you have a good mix of colours, a design wall is invaluable.
I decided on the superior thread ‘magnifico’ number 2052 to quilt my seeds, I find the batik fabric is perfect for a gold accent.
I love a free hand design of swirls and leaves.
I wanted this quilt to represent Autumn/ Fall so the perfect quilting would be swirls representing the wind blowing my seeds/leaves.
For the centre of the quilt, I quilted the swirls so they were all meeting up in the middle.
I love taking the quilt off the longarm for the big reveal.
I was happy, it definitely looked like Autumn/Fall to me!
And here she is blowing in the breeze!
