*********** Calippo quilt Pattern is available in my ‘Shop’ ***********
My latest quilt pattern is an easy strip quilt.
The key to this quilt is the fabric selection of light, medium and dark fabrics.
In this quilt I have used blenders but don’t be limited by this selection. This quilt would look amazing in florals, solids and even christmas fabric. I plan to make it in a few more different fabric combinations so check back for more inspiration!
Once the strips have been pieced make sure you give it a good iron before cutting.
Line up the triangle ruler and cut on each side, rather than turn around to cut, I line up another ruler and then cut on that edge.
Once all of the triangles are cut, lay them onto a design wall or the floor so you can check your colour placement.
When I am sewing my triangles together, I make sure I pin them at each seam, making sure all of the seams match up.
I like to iron my seams on the triangle to one side and then iron the joining seam open.
Press both sides of the triangle blocks.
Sew the triangle blocks together into rows and then sew the rows together.
I chose to custom quilt this one, but this quilt will look just as good with an edge to edge design.
Finally finished quilting and I am really happy with the result!
I love a pieced back and this one is so effective!
Close up of the fabric combination and quilting.
If you decide to buy the pattern and make this quilt yourself I would love to see pictures, tag me on instagram or send me an email!!

The quilting is SO satisfying…that was all hand quilted? If its stippling we need to find an Oscar and give you one!

Sylvia says
Just love the colours and design but wondering what type of wadding you used as the quilting is so beautifully defined.
Carolyn Murfitt says
Hello Sylvia, I used two battings, Hobbs 80/20 on the bottom and Hobbs wool on top, this gave it the extra puff.
Best wishes
