I was updating my bedroom and decided I needed some nice big cushions and a bed runner. I fell in love with the ‘A day in Paris’ by Zen Chic Moda. I knew it would be perfect for both.
I used the ‘faux’ appliqué method to make my petals and leaves.
Once I make up the petals and leaves, I play around with different layouts until I find one that is aesthetically pleasing.
I like to use a straight stitch to sew around the applique pieces.
I think simple quilting is perfect for both the cushions and the table runner.
Onto the binding!
and the finished cushions and table/bed runner.
Both of these patterns are available in my shop. (just click here)
I loved the cushion so much I decided to make one in liberty for my daughter.
Selecting the fabrics and matching the liberty with some Moda Grunge.
Finding the perfect aurifil thread.
On with the job of making the petals.
Laying out the design and ironing the petals to the background fabric.
After sewing them onto the background it’s time for quilting.
I did a few feathers on the background fabric for this one.
