I received a beautiful package filled with Indah Batiks from Me+You Hoffman fabrics.
I knew I wanted to make another applique quilt but this time I thought it would be more interesting if I made a pieced back.
I thought the back should be fat quarter friendly, so I used 11 fat quarters of low volume fabrics and 9 fat quarters of blue fabrics.
It is important to lay out the background fabrics so that you can make sure the fabrics are evenly spread throughout the design.
This quilt can be made in three sections to make it easier to sew on the applique or as one background piece.
I love to make the appliqué by hand cutting each piece.
Using a design wall is a great way to make sure the design is balanced.
How much better do the flowers look with the yellow centres?
Next up is the quilting.
This pattern is available as a download or as a paper patterning the shop. Acrylic templates can also be purchased in the shop.

Jji. Bought your pattern 2 weeks ago through Rainbow Patchwork in Lismore and now that our Prime Minister has told us to stay home, i started it yesterday. How indulgent. I had enough fabric in my stash so off I go. Thanks for all your tips. Warm regards Connie Sporne x x

I have just finished my version of your quilt. I tried to send you a photo of my finished quilt as I am only a first time amateur and would appreciate any suggestions, but the freebirdquiltingdesigns.com.au will not accept my email. I quilted it with my home machine.
