I have really enjoyed making curved quilt patterns.
So I decided it was time to do a basic curved quilt pattern for all of the quilters who are new to curves and would like a big curve to practice on and the bonus is, its a repeat block.
If this sounds like you or you love sewing curves and want a quick quilt, then this is the quilt for you.
The beauty of this quilt is the pattern is written for chain piecing, which means the quilt comes together very quickly and easily.
I chose these beautiful Ruby Star Society prints for a lap sized Raindrop Swirl quilt.
This pattern works just as well with an assortment of fabrics from your stash, quite a few of my pattern testers chose fabrics from their stash and the results were beautiful.
Cutting out the curves is a breeze with the Raindrop Swirl acrylic templates, these are an addition to the pattern, if you prefer the acrylic ones to making your own.
If you have already purchased the Shadow Blossom or Jelly Beans templates, then you can use those for this pattern as well, no need to buy additional ones.
If you are using the acrylic templates you can cut up to six layers of fabric at a time, making the cutting really simple and quick, quick, quick!
Below is a Youtube video on how I sew my curves, just click the link for a quick tutorial (skip the adds).

Once your curves are cut out, follow the pattern instructions to join the curved pieces and then chain piece.
The blocks just need to be trimmed once sewn together.
Keep pinning and then chain piecing your blocks. The Blocks grow very quickly with the chain piecing. Before you know it the blocks are ready to be sewn together and then voila the quilt is finished!
